Interview with Silvio Massaro from Vanishing Point

When I've heard for the first time some mp3 samples from the website of Vanishing Point (thanks to Leo from Denmark)
I wanted to know more behind this band from Australia and asked Vanishing Points frontman Silvio Massaro if he wanted
an interview for Stratovana's Music Magazine. And he said yes immediately! And I asked him the following questions.
Can you tell our readers what the name Vanishing Point means?
I sure can ....the meaning of the words are taken from the art world where some thing disapear into distance and cant be seen
any more just like a long road that vanishes into the horizon.. or it can be described as a melodic
metal masters of Australia;-)
Who came up with the name Vanishing Point?
I actually came up with the band name ... i originally wanted to call a song Vanishing Point , but the
boys liked it so much that we decided that it would be a great name so we keot it for that to. i like it alot.
its different i guess
Can you tell us how many CD’s are sold from Embrace the Silence?
yes 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001
You’ve told me that you are busy written new material for the new upcoming album.
Do you know when you are going into the studio to record the new album?
We plan on going into the studio around September we are about 70% complete with the writting
and everything is sounding just great so far ... listners will be sure to hear what they already
know about Vanishing Point ..unlike most bands changing there sound and experimenting with
sounds that they obviuosly dont know anything about .. we like to stick to what we know best
and that is melodic metal.
Was the recording progress different technically than for the earlier albums, how
long took the recording and mixing and producing progress for Embrace the Silence??
the recording for Emraced The Silence was alot easier in my opinion we knew exactly what to do this time around .
there was no need for experimenting with recordig technics.. as for the first album it was all recorded on the old
ways of 2 inch tape which took alot longer to get through and our second cd was done through the new ways of
digital world..recording digitally is certainly the best way for us to record its faster and easier to get to the end
result with out killing each other in the studio ...hehehe.
My favourite songs are: Seasons Of Sundays and Once A Believer, but every song sounds so great
I like the intro ‘piano part’ in Reason.
I really love those songs to and they sound so great live aswell i really do enjoy letting people hear what they
sound like live and seeing there reactions. it's such a good feeling.
Vanishing Point toured together with Sonata Arctica.
I know Sonata and met them last year.
I know that Sonata Arctica covered one song from Vanishing Point ‘Two Minds One Soul’.
Did you still contacted the band members of Sonata Arctica or was Sonata contacted you?
How was the experience touring together with a band from Finland?
Sonata are our finnish brothers, i believe it was tony kakko who contacted us and told us that hey guess
what we are covering one of your songs"Two Minds One Soul"
We were so blown away that not only that they were covering it but that they are still one of our favourite
bands world wide..Touring with them was just best thing ever!! they were just so much fun to hang around with ..
and we got along very well with each other it was a very sad good bye.. but i know that one soon i hope we
will tour again together .and repeat the fun all over!
Is the metal/rock scene different/better over there in Down Under then in Europe?
The metal scene is very different between Europe and Australia.. but i would not say that it is better than Europe.
we have a much small popullation than all of Europe and the fact that we are so far away from the rest of the world
doesnt help either.. but our metal is strong becuase of that i think ..
we generally stick together and build up the profile of this countries metal scene.
You must come to Down Under to see it!
Who is your influence? Did you inspired by bands/vocalist?
I have no real major influences... i am more inspired by great music that is well written with good strong clear vocals...
some vocalist that i admir are John Cavaleri, Russel Allen , Jorn Lande,Josh Groban,Tony Martin and many more ...
How can you describe the music of Vanishing Point?
the best way for me to describe our music is melodic metal...
we play songs that is best described as being very emotional , catchy courses with big powerful riffs.
with a progressive twist.
We hope that Vanishing Point are come to Europe soon? Do you have a final word for our readers?
yes i really hope to come back to europe to!! Hopefully you will see us on the next release which will be in 2007.
My only finall word would be is id like to thank your readers for reading this!! :-)
